(Cancelled from 10-19) Mark Kozelek at Henry Miller Library

Kozelek, from Ohio, picked up drummer Anthony Koutsos in Atlanta and guitarist Goden Mack in San Francisco and formed acclaimed band Red House Painters, on the famed 4AD label. He went solo and released, as the singer-songwriter had with RHP, covers of others, including AC/DC, Simon & Garfunkel and The Cars, that so recontextualized the songs as to be indiscernable from the originals. Singing in a melancholy Americana folk vein, he contributed to tribute albums for Bonnie "Prince" Billy and John Denver, a cover album of Modest Mouse, more solo albums and a project called Sun Kil Moon, inspired by the sport of boxing. A book and documentary further pushed his visibility. This solo acoustic show will, too. (See Music story.) [WR]
