Santa Cruz artist Adon Valenziano creates innovative mixed media works mixing rough, patinaed or polished bronze with warm, shapely wood and blown glass forms to make undulating naturalistic shapes that could be biological studies influenced by a mix of animal and plant anatomy--works that look sporeous, skeletal, pod-like and nearly living. To create each shape Valenziano approaches them like a scientist reconstructing a rare specimen or preserving a fossil, building the illusion of being organic. [JB]
