Dance 4 Life at Sherwood Hall

Everyone can draw lessons from the girls of the wheelchair dance troupe called Team HotWheelz, starting with Pacific Grove's Chelsie Hill. A former dancer with the Pacific Grove Dance Team, in 2010 she was paralyzed in a drunk driving accident. She's since turned that tragedy into a mission to help and inspire others. And it turns out her dancing days are far from over. She's joined by wheelchair dancers Ali Stroker, Kaitlyn Staten, Joanie Carter, Mia Schaikowitz (of Sundance Channel reality show Push Girls), Katie Estrella and Maria Gast, as well as a dance group from San Jose, this Saturday in a show that ranges across hip-hop, lyrical, jazz and ballroom moves, with wheelchair bound but soaring Ali Stroker from Glee Project 2 joining to sing two songs. After the show, which is a fundraiser for Hill's Walk and Roll Foundation and Central Coast Center for Independent Living (CCCIL), is a meet-n-greet with the girls. Inspiring stuff.
5:30 doors open; 6:30-8pm show. Sherwood Hall, 940 N. Main St., Salinas. $25/general; $10/student. www.eventbrite.com and search Dance For Life.
