It opened the same time as Auguste Rodin exhibit, so though it may have gotten over-shadowed by the reputation of one of most important sculptors of the Western world, the paintings assembled here are important in their own right. The exhibit assembles works by artists like Charles Rollo Peters, E. Charlton Fortune, Armin Hansen and William Ritschel who, at one point in their illustrious careers, studied, drew and painted abroad, primarily in Paris. There, they picked up new movements in art like Impressionism, and brought them home with them. The results here will merge with the coming Art in the Abodes (Sept. 13-16) for a confluence of historical art. But they're available to view at the museum through Oct. 12—check them out while you're perusing Rodin's sculptors. [WR]
