The concept for the Monterey Symphony's 2012-13 season, which opens this week, is to highlight its new Hamburg Steinway D piano. This program, featuring three piano concertos, features music by John Field, who invented of the piano nocturne. Guest artists Heidi Hau and John O'Conor team up on Mozart's Double Concerto, which is like hearing three classical orchestras at once, big and bold yet still delicate. [SR]
