The actors in this play-within-a-play murder/mystery get investigated by hardboiled pulp Detective Joe Mamet when a real-life murder happens before the play gets started. It's a bit of a Charlie Kaufman mobius loop of a plot, but I think you know the score. Guess who the culprit is while wash down your dinner theater meal with a glass of port or cup of cappuccino. Saltshaker Theater began doing dinner theater in May, to popular acclaim from audiences and restaurant owners, and the cast of local actors, guided by writer/comedian Lee Mueller and director Ken Cusson, return to add levity and mystery to your dining experience. Their run jumps across venues pretty quick. They are All Saints Episcopal Church Oct. 20 (384-6323); Gino's Italian Restaurant on Oct. 24 (422-1814); The Penny Farthing Tavern on Oct. 25 and 26 (422-5652); Element Tasting Bar & Bistro on Oct. 29 (998-7045); Grower's Pub Steakhouse on Oct. 30 (754-1488); and Rotary Club of Carmel Valley's Rancho Canada date on Nov. 1 (233-2628). Call each venue for reservations. [WR]
