Art in the Adobes was launched last year, exhibiting historical local and regional paintings in our historical adobes for an immersive walking exhibition weekend. This year, themed "Rediscovery: Monterey Peninsula Artists aat Home & Abroad," it begins with an opening reception and preview on Thursday at Cooper-Molera Adobe Gardens, then, on Friday, a lecture and another reception at Monterey Museum of Art-La Mirada. Saturday and Sunday there are tours, more lectures and artworks in 10 historic building and gardens, plein air painting demonstrations and competition, a parade of dance costumes from around the world and young artist chalk-painting. It's a delightful and inclusive weekend for walking and talking through history. (See Art story.) [WR]
5-7pm Thu opening reception; 3-6:30pm Fri lecture and reception; 10am Sat-Sun. Various locations throughout downtown Monterey. $20-$95/person. 241-5504, www.ArtInTheAdobes.org.
