The National Circus of The People's Republic of China at CSUMB's World Theater

Kicking off this year's performance arts series, forty sparkling gymnasts, jugglers and dancers challenge the laws of physics with their extreme feats of balance, juggling, flying and contortion. This art form, once reserved for emperors and their courts, has been part of the Chinese culture for centuries. Founded in 1953, the company introduced the circus-without-animals concept and inspired the pioneers of Cirque de Soleil. [DVD]
