Ryuijie, born in Otaru, Japan, learned underwater photography in Guam while stationed there with the U.S. military. After a stint working in lithography and studying in Monterey, he pursued fine art photography, and has now for more than 30 years. His work—ethereal underwater seascapes and, like this show, frozen botanicals—has been exhibited in the Getty and been published in View Camera and Focus magazines, and he has published three books. This show is up through October 28.
