David Burdeny grew up in Winnipeg, Manitoba, Canada, and began taking pictures there at age 12. He studied architecture and interior design and uses that formal training in his large-scale photographs of buildings and structures that he shot in China, Japan, Italy, Thailand and elsewhere, using natural light and long exposures to create a pervading sense of stillness and calm. The exhibition, Ancora, the Italian word for "still," is up until Oct. 20. [WR]
