The author of Farewell to Manzanar talks about and signs her book, about her family's experience in an internment camp, and relates the story to civil rights violations, part of a bigger discussion of "What Does Democracy Mean to You?" It's part of the Monterey County Free Libraries' Cal Reads program's "Searching for Democracy" grant issued by Cal Humanities, a nonprofit partner of the National Endowment for the Humanities. Light snacks will be served and the first 50 people will receive a free copy of the book.
