The 56 artists who open their abodes and show their work in the comfort of their studios, spare bedrooms and converted garages just on the Peninsula—Seaside, Carmel, Pacific Grove, Monterey, Pebble Beach, Carmel Highlands, Big Sur—constitute more than enough creativity and traveling and visiting and talking than you'll be able to manage in the two days that the Artists Equity-driven self-guided tour takes place. Some of the more prominent of those artists include Emy Ledbetter, Cheryl Kampe, Alan Masaoka, Jody Royee, Barry Marshall, William Files, Brian Blood, Sandy Robinson. You can get a compilation of the 56 at one place: Pacific Grove Art Center has one piece by each artist as a sampler, and is launching the gala kickoff 7-9pm Friday, Sept. 28, with refreshments and a raffle. Take note that Alvarado Gallery at the Monterey Conference Center also has Studio Tour work, Arts Habitat at 2200 Garden Road in Monterey are new to the proceedings, and that a Studio Tour map can be found in the pages of the Weekly you have in your hands.
