As a supplement to the Music, Love and Flowers exhibition revolving around the 1967 Monterey International Pop Festival, the museum will screen films from 1967—one a month, through January 2013—Fridays and Saturdays. On Friday, a 5pm reception with on open bar ushers in the 7pm films; on Saturday, films begin 2pm, free with museum admission. They include: Arthur Penn's violent anti-hero classic Bonnie & Clyde (May 25-26); Lee Marvin, Charles Bronson and Ernest Borgnine in action classic The Dirty Dozen (June 22-23); In Like Flint, with James Coburn in a more suave and kitschy role of a James Bond-like spy (July 27-28); the classic race and power struggle of In the Heat of the Night (Aug. 24-25); Riot on the Sunset Strip…not familiar (Sept. 28-29); the psychedelic visions of The Trip, starring Peter Fonda, Bruce Dern and Dennis Hopper (Oct. 26-27); the uber-dramatic and campy Valley of the Dolls (Nov. 23-24); something called Wait Until Dark that doesn't sound none to Christmas-y (Dec. 23-24); and classic and cool anti-establishment rebel film Easy Rider (Jan. 25-26, 2013).
