A six-week summer community center acting class in Shirley, Vermont, may not seem like a cauldron of drama and revelation. At least that's the expectation of a former actress, divorced carpenter, a petulant 16-year-old, and a hippie couple who enroll in the class. But through eccentric acting exercises, they each delve deep into their own selves and make connections to each other. Annie Baker's off-Broadway hit was named one of the top plays of the 2009-10 season by the New York Times and The New Yorker, and won Obie's (off-Broadway's Tony's) for best New American Play, Ensemble Performance and Direction.
