An Ongoing Tradition: Art Faculty Exhibition at Hartnell College Art Gallery

An unassuming paint can on display is worth a second glance, as it is really a pinhole camera made by retired instructor Joe Bragdon. The photograph accompanying it is the result: Bragdon positioned the camera in the middle of the intersection of Alisal and Main Street in Salinas early one Sunday morning to take the print. In addition to photography, the show, featuring the works of ten current instructors and staff, and three retired faculty members, displays ceramics, painting, drawing, and mixed media sculpture. And the art faculty are not the only ones whose talents will be highlighted at Friday's reception: Hartnell President Dr. Willard Lewallen and Director of the Hartnell College Foundation, Jackie Cruz, will treat guests to a musical performance as well. Gallery hours are Monday through Thursday, from 10 am to 1 pm and from 6 to 9 pm The exhibit runs through February 9. [GM]
