Start with a color scheme, and you set the stage for a creation story of sorts. Here, two supreme beings play the God role, except their color scheme is one of racial inequity worldwide. There's biting humor throughout, as the two supreme beings conjure the sexes (and are careful not to give women too many advantages) and race. The two women then play a big cast of rotating characters as they observe the struggles of modern life: teenagers on a date, sisters at a funeral, a couple at a dusty country bar. These capricious creators offer plenty of commentary on equality—or lack thereof. [SR]
