Whales are the largest mammals on Earth. What would it be like to look one in the eye? Artist and photographer Bryant Austin knows, and is on a mission to share the awe-inspiring experience with everyone he can. On February 2, the Museum of Monterey will be holding the opening reception for Austin's exhibit "Beautiful Whale." The exhibit will feature all of Austin's whale photographs, which contain the largest and highest resolution images ever taken of these spectacular animals. During the reception, which is sponsored by Oceana, Austin's complete oeuvre will be on display for the first time in North America. The exhibit will also run during regular hours through the beginning of September. [DLG]
