The legacy of this piano trio may be even more enduring than Jimmy Carter's; the ensemble made its debut at Carter's 1977 presidential inauguration, and is still going strong. The group deftly plays classical standards, but they've also evolved musically beyond the era of the Iranian hostage crisis, and here will perform the West Coast debut of a moving 1999 work by Richard Danielpour. He wrote the heart-wrending song in memory of an 18-month-old boy who died in a drowning accident; it's a haunting musical capture of raw, painful emotions, a song about the death of innocence. Bring tissues to the pre-concert talk at 7pm. [SR]
