Monthly Wharf Walk with Tim Thomas at the Old Fisherman's Wharf

The first Saturday of the month means another historic walking tour with the Old Fisherman's Wharf Association and noted Monterey Bay Fisheries historian and author, Tim Thomas. This month's wharf walk titled "Monterey Old Fisherman's Wharf Walk: Focus on the Japanese Fishermen of Monterey" not only sheds light on abalone divers from Japan but also squid fishermen from China and sardine-fishing Sicilians. Travel back in time and discover the people and cultures of Monterey's colorful past and learn about the history of Monterey's waterfront that gave birth to the abalone industry, whaling the bay and the legendary sardine industry.
