Song, dance, laughter...hot flashes? These things can go together, at least on stage in Menopause The Musical. The rollicking production, inspired by a hot flash and a bottle of wine, tells the tales of four women who meet by chance at a lingerie sale in a department store. The all-female cast belt out stories of their mood swings, wrinkles, night sweats, and chocolate binges to the tunes of classic songs from the ‘60s, ‘70s, and ‘80s. (“Hush now girlfriend, take cheer oh girlfriend, your husband will return” is the Menopause version of the Lion Sleeps Tonight.) The singing sisterhood discovers that menopause doesn’t have to be “The Silent Passage,” but is a perfectly normal part of every woman’s life. [AT]
