Learn the ancient ways of communication with the Instructor of History at Monterey Peninsula College and the Gentrain program, Elizabeth Dilkes Mullins, as she talks about history of papyrus as a crucial mass-produced product of the ancient world. Mullins traces the rise of papyrus, its production, and trade to show the connections between the world's first empires, how they managed to communicate without cellphones and what they left behind for us to construct history.
1:30-2:30pm. MPC Lecture Forum 103, 980 Fremont Street, Monterey. Free. 646-4224, www.gentrain.org.
