Illustrated Presentation and Mission Exhibit Closing at The Museum of Monterey

Two events in one night capturing the significance of the California mission studies built during Alta California's Spanish era. Archaeologist Ruben Mendoza presents "Solar Illuminations in the California Missions" that demonstrates his research on how the Mission churches were "astronomical clocks" with illustrations and slide shows. After the presentation is the "Serra Before California" closing reception. The exhibition by photographer Jeffrey Becom depict the five UNESCO World Heritage Site churches established from 1750 by Serra and his Franciscans in Mexico's remote Sierra Gorda.
