The Arts Council for Monterey County's annual gala, a benefit for youth arts education, is a grand affair that draws a creative, illustrious and caring lot of people into one space for dinner, auction, music/dancing (by Grammy-winning Orlando Catro's Mambo Tropical) and awards. This year, recipients include Monterey Jazz Festival Artistic Director Tim Jackson (LIfetime Achievement), former Hartnell College Music Department Director Dr. Carl Christensen (Luminary), Liz Sanchez with Caminos Del Arte and Alisal Center for the Arts (Volunteer) and Henry Miller Memorial Library (Nonprofit) and others.
