Trio Globo refers to itself as "the quintessential ensemble for the 21st century." Cellist Eugene Friesen (Paul Winter Consort), pianist and harmonica player Howard Levy (Bela Fleck and the Flecktones, Kenny Loggins, Paquito d'Rivera), and percussionist Glen Velez (Paul Winter Consort, Steve Reich), take their instruments to groundbreaking limits where traditional technique does not apply. Improvisational jazz doesn't even come close to explaining what these guys do. Their blend of jazz, classical, sacred music and world beats embrace musical cultures spanning the globe while reaching sound levels that are both sublime and intuitive. [AJ]
