This series features local and national environment speakers addresses current issues including the environmental impact of conflict in Afghanistan, making solar energy affordable, Monterey Peninsula water management, and the California coastal preservation efforts. The series runs from February to April. The different speakers and dates are: Edward Girardet, author of Killing Carnes: A Reporter's Journey Through Three Decades of War in Afghanistan, presenting Conflict and Conservation: Environmental Impacts of the War in Afghanistan on February 19; David Helvarg, author and executive director of the Blue Frontier Campaign, presenting The Golden Shore: California's Love Affair with the Sea on March 5; Danny Kennedy, founder of Sungevity, presenting Making Residential Solar Energy East and Affordable on March 6; and Jason Burnett, mayor of Carmel-By-The-Sea and managing partner at Clean Fund, presenting Monterey Peninsula Water management on April 18.
