If the renovations to the Hyatt's fireplace lounge weren't enough to transform this from a mundane hotel lobby into urban chic, there are weekly jam sessions on Saturday nights. In a place where the pickings are slim for casual jazz clubs, these musical gatherings are especially important. This Saturday, the Monterey String Quartet departs from its usual wedding repertoire and brings on a drummer for a night of jazz standards, swing tunes and Latin music. [SR]
