A Christmas Story (1983)

Set in the Midwest during the 1940s, A Christmas Story follows little Ralphie Parker (Peter Billingsley) as he tries to convince Santa Claus that he truly needs a Red Rider BB gun for Christmas. Despite the film taking place during another era, the film still resonates due to universal characters like the gruff father figure (Darren McGavin) and the disgruntled Santa Claus terrifying kids in a department store. Now, like the Parkers'Chinese Christmas feast at the end of the film, watching A Christmas Story during the holiday season is an annual tradition for me. Reviewed by ST.
