The further I read into Sandy Shilts' And the Band Played On, the more worried I became. The evidence was all there. It could take as long as 10 to 15 years before symptoms of a disease appeared; the buffer of three years that seperated my present healthy state from a night of unprotected sex with a woman in Patpong, Bangcok's red-light district, could be an illusion.
