Concerns about crime have prompted grassroots campaigns for Salinas City Council and mayor.

For Salinas activist and city council candidate Gloria Reyes, there have been two moments of truth. The first moment came in late November when Reyes found a bullet lodged in the door of her Hebbron Heights-area home.
