Two views of the voucher initiative.

Proposition 174 is perhaps the most significant--and controversial--initiative on the Nov. 2 ballot. In short, the initiative proposes to take about half of the money currently spent on educating K-12 students in California--about $2,600 per student--and give it, in the form of a voucher, to the public or private school of the parent's choice.
