FBI vs. Earth First!

FBI records show the bureau was bent on blaming Earth First! activist Judy Bari for the bombing of her own car.

On an August day in 1990, FBI agent Stockton Buck sat in the offices of the Eureka Times Standard going through the newspaper's "letters to the editor" file. Buck was seeking clues to the identity of the car bomber who, two months earlier, had set off a powerful explosion that maimed Earth First! leader Judi Bari, injured her companion Darryl Cherney, and blew a big hole in the environmentalists' plans for the Redwood Summer anti-logging protest.
