Critics have called Sandra Cisneros the foremost Mexican-American woman writer in the nation. And although Cisneros herself is quick to point out the contributions of other Mexican-American writers struggling to be heard, she is intensely aware of the responsibilities that come with being the spokesperson of an entire group of artists.
