Salinas mayoral race echoes national political fray.

The late Speaker of the House Thomas P. "Tip" O'Neill's famous statement that "all politics is local" seems to be proving true in this year's mayoral race in Salinas. The same vociferous arguments, philosophical and otherwise, which currently emanate from Washington over spending, frayed social fabrics, and the role of government in our society are echoed in the non-partisan race between incumbent mayor Alan Styles and his conservative opponent, Brett Landon.
