Blues Power

The Monterey Bay Blues Festival is powered by volunteers and a tangle of committees.

In its first nine years, the Monterey Bay Blues Festival (MBBF) established itself as a crowd-pleasing attraction in the cultural calender of county events. Just ask any of the 26,000 people who attended last year's sold-out show. This weekend, the Blues Festival celebrates its 10th birthday, and while pre-show sales continue to soar there are those who wonder if the organization's messy management style and integration of r&b headliners won't hamper continued growth.
