A local insurance agent was asked soon after the Carmel River flooded in January what recommendations he would make to homeowners concerned over the risk of another natural disaster hitting Monterey County. Is it worth paying higher monthly premiums for disaster coverage, he was asked, or better to gamble on the unlikelihood of another event like January's flood occuring anytime in the near future?
