A fire and flooding from sprinklers that caused an estimated minimum $25,000 of damage at the Carmel Pine Cone offices this week went undetected for several hours due to a flaw in the original design of the alarm system, according to Bill Hill, owner of Sentry Systems, the company that monitors and inspects the system.
