Local television news stations are bought and sold like cheap stocks. Is that bad news?

It was a scene perhaps more fitting of a cut-throat, high-stakes corporate take-over than of a relatively routine change in ownership of a small town news station: On the kind of blustery, sunny day typical of the Monterey Peninsula in late spring, 71 employees of KCCN-TV 46 were called into what they though was a casual weekly staff meeting.
