The men and women who come here from across the border are in search of the necessities--food and a job.

They start arriving just after dawn, most of them in jackets to ward off the morning chill. Most of them wear old, faded jeans and work boots. As more of them show up in the empty parking lot along Del Fino Place in Carmel Valley, they break into small groups based on where they are from in Mexico.
