Seaside officials say city takes a bad rap on crime.

The belief that the city of Seaside is a high-crime area may be driving potential businesses away, but the city's bad rape may not be borne out by reality. "Sure Seaside has crime problems," says City Councilmember Helen Rucker, "but there are also problems in Pacific Grove and Monterey. They just haven't received the attention that Seaside has."
