From The Editorial Desk

Although the day may come when Theodore Kaczynski is hailed as a prophet and his Unabomber Manifesto as the Bible of the new millennium, it would be hard for most of us to imagine going back to a world without computers, advanced medical and communication technologies, or even microwave popcorn.

What the future holds is anybody's guess, but for all the problems engendered by our high-tech lifestyle, technology and invention will hopefully provide the best solutions to some of our most pressing problems.

This week's cover story pays tribute to MoCo's own home-grown inventors and some of their wonderful creations that are making our lives more productive, stimulating and fun. If there is a single, common denominator among the local inventors we profiled, it is the incredible persistence with which they have pursued their dreams and overcome the daunting obstacles that often stand in the way of bringing new products and ideas to the marketplace.
