Frank Sinatra--Old Blue Eyes
Thursday, May 21, 1998
Sure, Frank Sinatra had alleged mob connections and hadn''t sung on key since the late ''70s. And yes, he once recorded a cover of "Bad, Bad Leroy Brown" that made even his most ardent fans envy the deaf. But when the most successful singer of the 20th century was good, he was utterly brilliant. Rest in peace, Old Blue Eyes.

What''s your favorite Sinatra song? I don''t know.I just don''t have one.
Did he have a big impact on the music scene? Yeah, he was OK. Young girls used to scream over him.

What''s your favorite Sinatra song? "My Way."
Did he impact the music scene? Oh, yes. I just think he was important to everyone. He was dynamic as a singer and as a man.
Think Old Blue Eyes wore contact lenses? No, I''d like to think his old blue eyes were his own.
Was he famous from the beginning? His fame built over the years.and slowed in past years. He was soothing and exciting.

What''s your favorite Sinatra song? I''ve probably never listened to Sinatra.
Was his music timeless or more generational? It was more of a generational music, but I''m sure his music will go on for a while.
Is there a mob in heaven? I would have to say no, but you never know. They''d probably be pissed off if there was.

What did you think of Sinatra? I saw him at the Palladium. He used to play there every Saturday afternoon. He was just starting to sing. I remember he had a pock-marked face and was real skinny.
Did you have a favorite song? I was just there looking at the girls.
Was his music timeless or more generational? They''ll be thinking about him forever.

Why was he special? He appealed to all ages.
Is his music timeless or generational? He is timeless. Absolutely.
Was he the big heart-throb? I was in between. I liked the music, but it was like with Elvis Presley-besides the music, I wasn''t that impressed.
