3. Progress is being made. But locking in developers with contracts has not been happening. For Broadway, the city must be very aggressive in developing the corner as a hub.

4. The money is in the budget to fill all positions. The council must order the city manager to stay out of the police department operations & allow the department administration to use all means to fill & retain their department staffing.

5. There is still not harmony within the rank & file. It's the lack of trust & leadership from the majority of the council. Changes will have to be made within the administration & [get rid of] the 3 council members that approve this unprofessional work.

6. This item is the sole responsibility under the C.M. & the city clerk's office. According to press reports, the city is now following the public records act law & city clerk does not need the C.M. office to approve release of public records.

3. We can push along Broadway redevelopment to keep it user-friendly & look at other neighboring cities & give community development director more direction & a time frame on what we want to see. Yes, the city has a realistic vision.

4. The percentage of the budget for public safety is adequate. We need to manage & prioritize spending better. Police department needs to fill vacancies with aggressive recruitment. Fire department needs to upgrade equipment.

5. I characterize relations between city employees/ management as "wait & see what will happen in the election." I would like to see more participation by employees in the decision-making process. As a councilmember, I would visit city departments more.

6. I believe Seaside is complying adequately with public record requests for the press & other government entities. If elected, I would not change how these requests are handled if we are meeting the intent of the law.

3. I have become disenchanted with redevelopment plans because they have become too grandiose & do not involve local developers. Broadway's redevelopment could be speeded up if more local developers & businesses were involved.

4. Seaside spends approximately 55 percent of its general fund on public safety. This is not unusual in cities with similar populations & budgets. As to whether it is enough or not can only be answered by the citizens. Recruiting is continuous.

5. Relations between employees & management exist at the same level they were when Mandalay & Grand Jury reports were released. One councilperson can't change a thing. Management will change, should the voters change the majority.

6. Management seems to be doing better in complying with requests because of recent news articles. Depending on who is elected or re-elected, there will be change. I would venture to say that compliance will improve if the council majority changes.

7. I have learned to accept responsibility for my decisions knowing that every citizen will not be happy with every decision. If re-elected, I promise not to forget again.

3. There has been no redevelopment. Sorrowfully the current mayor & council have been engaging in "smoke & mirror development," engaged in lies about the city's redevelopment status & financial status by denying access to public records.

4. Public safety is not the only issue. Management & political leadership is at the core of Seaside's public safety problems. Management that relies on fealty as operational priority, makes it obvious why 98% of employees asked for city manager's resignation.

5. As a former mayor with more than a speculative opinion of relations between city employees & city management, I characterize those relations between employees & management as dismal & a great disservice to the people of Seaside.

6. Presently, under the current mayor & City Council, Seaside has an embarrassing record of making public records available to the public, the press & governmental entities. If elected, I would push for access to public records.

7. I've had 12 successful years as Seaside's mayor, bringing forth Embassy Suites, developed over 500 units of new housing. Seaside seriously lacks political leadership to jump-start its community planning. I can help!

3. I'm satisfied with the continual efforts that they are making. I feel if there was unity on the council they could move faster. If there is a citizen's committee formed to work closely with the businesses, rapid progress can be made.

4. The largest % of our city budget is spent on public safety. I do not believe more money is the answer. Reorganizing & working together will solve the problem. The reason there are public safety vacancies is because of recruiting criteria.

5. I have made inquiries with other cities re: employees & management. Seaside ranks among the top of our sister cities. One of the changes I would make is putting more of the responsibility in the hands of elected officials.

6. Record requests can be improved. Our record of compliance is still above other cities. I do see a need for improvement. When I'm elected I will look at other cities to determine what kinds of change, if need be, can or will be made.
