Seaside to San Francisco--The Train's a Comin'

The Transportation Agency for Monterey County, in conjuction with Amtrak, is planning to open a train line from San Francisco to the Monterey Bay. What do local residents think of having a new mode of transportation to the Bay Area?

Should the train travel from Seaside or Salinas? It should go from both.
Do you think people will actually use the train? Eventually. People commuting to and from work.
Should Seaside spend $1.2 million on a train station? It will pay for itself eventually.

How much should they charge for a train ticket? 10 bucks.
What time should it leave and come back? Around noon, so I can sleep in. Then it should come back at 10pm so someone can still pick me up.
Do you think people would use the train? A lot of people would use it because they don''t like the traffic.

Do you think the train is a good idea? Yes. I''m all for public transportation so people don''t have to drive.
Do you think people will use it? If it can access the airports in San Francisco and maybe even San Jose then a lot of people will use it.
What do you think about safety issues? I think there would have to be public education about safety and children. It should be a community effort.

Do you think the new train is a good idea? Excellent. The sooner the better. It''s a good people-mover.
How much should they charge for a ticket? $20 should do it.
Do you think people will use the train? Yes. It''s smoother and nicer than a bus, and you can do your work on it.
Should Seaside spend $1.2 million on a train station? It''s too much. They should put that money into the train.
What about child safety in the community? No child under the age of 12 should be let out in public.

How much will people use the train? In Europe, trains are popular, but this area is too small.
