Seaside Development--What's Needed?

As plans for development are put forth for Seaside, the question that arises is what will benefit the community and what will help to build that ever elusive bridge to the 21st century? Local residents respond to the lack of youth activities and shopping, and give some ideas of their own.

What kind of development does Seaside need? Del Rey Oaks needs a hotel.

Where do you go for shopping and entertainment? I go to Sand City and the military facility.

Do you think people would stay at a new hotel on the former Fort Ord? Probably.

What''s your favorite place to go in Seaside? The Fishwife.

What kind of development does Seaside need? It needs more stuff for youth so they can stay out of trouble, like more recreation centers.

Where do you go for shopping and entertainment? San Jose, for hanging out with friends.

What''s your favorite place to go in Seaside? I go to Cutino Park to play games.

What kind of development does Seaside need? Nice maintenance in the streets, colorful flowers and no homeless.

Do you think people would stay in a Hilton in Seaside? Of course!

Where do you go for entertainment? Around home.

What''s your favorite place to go in Seaside? Curly''s, my own place and Embassy Suites, it''s beautiful.

What kind of development does Seaside need? Something for children--an amusement park. We should take care of our own community.

Where do you go for entertainment? No place to go in Seaside. I have to go to Monterey.

What kind of development does Seaside need? There is no place for children. We need places for children--parks, arts and crafts shops, swimming pools. Why the movie theater?

Do you think people would stay in a Hilton in Seaside? I don''t think so. There are a lot of hotels here.

Where do you go for entertainment? Monterey. The Long Bar. I play pool.

Who will you vote for in the City Council election? Lance McClair I guess...I do not know the other people.
