Avoiding Conflict

No excuses for latecomers to the concert calendar.

Classical
In the last few weeks, one area presenter scheduled events directly opposite concerts announced nearly a year ago by two veteran presenters. In both cases, these conflicting events took place within a short distance from those previously scheduled. This might not matter much except that some concertgoers would have been attracted to both.

For want of reliable information gathered in one place, schedule conflicts like these used to be inevitable. But each spring, in an effort to eliminate such conflicts, this column has published dates and times of the region''s major classical presenters'' next fall-winter-spring seasons. This listing is designed to be clipped, saved, highlighted and regularly consulted by subscribers and presenters alike. The goal is zero conflicts.
