Street Talk
Older folks have seen events that the young may understand only as entertainment. But what would Leonardo DiCaprio be without the actual Titanic, or Mel Gibson without the American Revolution? Here are a few people who have something to share about the historical events they''ve witnessed.
Linda Green

What was an important historical event you have witnessed? The black movement, the Watts riot. I remember that. I was there. Then the freedom movements in the ''70s with women''s lib, when women were burning their bras.
How do you think those things impact us now? Well, I think society accepts more worldly things. More openly, anyway. Also education has gone downhill.
Robert Redtruck
Age: 57 Occupation: Semi-retired

An important event you were witness to? Vietnam was important to me. I got out of the military about the time it started, and that would have affected my life.
How did you learn about historical events? The way I was taught, but I didn''t learn much. History repeats itself but no one learns.
What about the impact on how we live? I think we have the knowledge we need when we''re born. The instinct to learn can get taken from us.
Steve Moseley
Age: 35 Occupation: Musician

A world-changing event you''ve witnessed? I think computers have changed the world a lot.
What has the impact been? It has diminished human interaction.
Do you think Mel Gibson will star in a movie about it? God, I hope so!
