Street Talk 05/02/02 Dry County

Asked at Brooks/Cole Publishing at Pacific Grove By Jennifer Flowers

Q: Cities and businesses on the Peninsula are fighting with the Water District because there''s not enough water. Do you ever do anything to conserve water?

Follow Up: Do you always shower alone?

Janet Hill

Editor/Monterey

A: I have a low-flush toilet and a shower that has a special showerhead that restricts the water flow. And when I brush my teeth, I don''t leave the water running.

Alone in the Bath? Yeah, my cat doesn''t like to shower with me.

Peggy Smith

Temp/Marina

A: Yes, we do. In conserving water we use cold water for our wash. We also use less water in the cycle. We also have drought-tolerant native plants that are low maintenance.

Share the Shampoo? My shower''s broken now, but on occasion, no we didn''t.

Scott Maxwell

Engineer/Monterey

A: I water plants in the morning because the water doesn''t evaporate as much. I also make sure I take a quick shower, and I don''t run the water while I''m brushing my teeth. I''m just real thoughtful about things that don''t have to be running all the time.

O Solo Mio? Not if I can help it.
