Fall Arts Preview
Thursday, September 2, 2004
Already we can feel the weather changing. As late summer heads toward fall, the fog dissipates more quickly, the light takes on a more dramatic cast, the evenings develop a new kind of chill.
It can be a time when a strange emotion wells up; an edgy melancholy. Maybe it’s genetic—a species dread of scary winter. Maybe it’s the little kid in us thinking, “Summer’s over. Back to school. Rats.”
Thankfully, this is when the arts scene shifts into high gear. Already there’s even more music, theater and art shows to draw us out into the night. Some old friends who’ve been working the culture mines hereabouts for years are returning; and some new faces are emerging, offering exciting new paths to fun and edification.
In the following pages we have assembled a list containing some highlights from the season to come. Use it to plan, or just to ward off that daunting autumnal mystery feeling.
