La Perla hosts rockabilly show this weekend.
Thursday, April 20, 2006
In recent months, Salinas’ La Perla Restaurant has been serving up live punk and rockabilly bands along with gigantic burritos and all-you-can-eat breakfast specials.
Starting in late January, local promoter Meana Sanchez and her Mean Bean Productions have been putting together all-ages concerts in the back room of the North Main Street restaurant. Recent shows have featured a Oakland string metal band called Judgment Day and popular locals Rum and Rebellion.
This Thursday, Santa Cruz’s rockabilly act The Chop Tops and Texas psychobilly band The Phantom Rockers will be performing at La Perla. Santa Cruz’s Stigma 13 opens. In the future, Sanchez has a handful of shows that she is excited about, including the first US tour stop for French psychobilly act G String in October.
Stigma 13, The Phantom Rockers and The Chop Tops play La Perla, located at 332 Main St. in Salinas, this Thursday at 7pm. $8/advance; $10/at the door. 757-6333.
