LEFT-WING ‘CHRISTIAN’ WILL GO TO HELL

Sue Braum labeled Mr. Truth as an “extremist” in her letter and wrote “not all Christians are the same.”  I would add not all people who call themselves “Christian” necessarily are.  Braum’s diatribe reads like the anti-Christian rants often heard coming from the Left.

I’m highly suspicious of a “Christian” who doesn’t believe the Bible. Apparently, her beliefs about what “God” wants are based on the ramblings of atheists and goofy New Age gurus.

Braum claims she’s a “spiritual” person (whatever that means) but never experienced the mocking Mr. Truth has. I find it hard to believe she’s never heard the extremists on the Left compare Bible-believing Christians to the Taliban or Al Qaeda.

I also find it odd that a “Christian” would shamelessly lie about another by claiming Mr. Truth said people who celebrate Halloween or read Harry Potter were going to hell, when Truth said nothing of the sort.  (Like most New Age-type “Christians,” I doubt Braum believes in an actual Hell.)

Braum ends her anti-Christian rant by claiming burning DVDs is illegal. I was unaware that burning a DVD, without the intention to sell and with the permission of the author (several Christian writers allow the copying of their DVDs and videos) was illegal.  But when the Left bashes Christians, any lie is acceptable. —Brian L. WILL GOLF FOR PUBLIC SERVICE

By suing for free golf privileges, former PG Mayor Morrie Fisher has revealed his true colors! So, serving the city of Pacific Grove was not for civic duty but for a free pass to that city’s golf course and its new clubhouse? By his actions Mr. Fisher has publicly announced  and confirmed what alert citizens have protested all along: the good ol’ boy tactics for personal gain.

SOLDIERS DON’T MAKE WAR POLICY

I would like to share with you an incident that occurred between a local resident and a service member going to school in the area.

My friend was coming out of an eating establishment downtown when she saw that a meter person was writing a ticket for her car. My friend was in uniform and as always, though she was initially baffled, she conducted herself in a dignified manner that is befitting of the standards of service in the US military. It was explained that she had parked over a line by a matter of inches and she took her ticket with poise.

There was a young man with the meter person and when the meter person had finished, the young man asked my friend if she knew why she was getting the ticket. She replied that in fact she didn’t really understand why she was being singled out. “Because George Bush is fighting a war for oil and you can afford it.”

My friend is just about at the bottom of the food chain in the US War Machine. She makes enough money to call herself working poor and she has absolutely no effect on American foreign policy.

I am distressed because in the military, those of us who have chosen to serve do so willingly to defend our country and the right of any person to speak his mind.

My friend is paying the ticket. She knows she broke a rule and is more than willing to ante up. I couldn’t possibly know what caused someone to interrupt his day just to make someone else have a bad day. I hope he finds some peace within himself. —Name Withheld | Monterey

POLITICIANS VS. PEOPLE

A note was sent to me on Election Day that was like a soothing salve on a burning wound. It said that the people at Project Vote Smart were “America’s true heroes for working so hard over so many years and against the odds to seed the ground for the renewal of democracy.

“I was one of those who found hope in your launch all those years ago,” it continued, and was signed by Bill Moyers.

The election ending was tougher on our young staff than usual, particularly with the dozens of candidates who fabricated data for last-minute attack ads and then used the Project’s name to give the attacks credibility. Perhaps, as one of our students suggested, “We should be flattered.”
